Mechanical Engineering Concepts
- Planning: The role of project manager highlighted as a person who plans, controls, and optimizes a multi-task project towards a singular goal in a timely and cost-effective manner. The science and the art of project management is discussed in settings where scarce resources, risky decisions, and conflicting tensions continually require sensible and effective compromises.
- Risk management: The science and the art of project management is discussed in settings where scarce resources, risky decisions, and conflicting tensions continually require sensible and effective compromises. Concepts and applied techniques for cost effective management of both long-term development programs and short-term projects are discussed.
- Fault Tree Analysis: is one of the most widely used methods in system reliability, maintainability and safety analysis. It is a deductive procedure used to determine the various combinations of hardware and software failures and human errors that could cause undesired events (referred to as top events) at the system level.
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis : is a structured approach to discovering potential failures that may exist within the design of a product or process.
- Verification and validation:The process of evaluating work-products (not the actual final product) of a development phase to determine whether they meet the specified requirements for that phase. And The process of evaluating software during or at the end of the development process to determine whether it satisfies specified business requirements.
- Regulatory compliance: Regulatory compliance can take on different definitions according to the industry in which you are applying the policies. Since compliance means incorporating standards that conform to specific requirements, regulatory compliance is the regulations a company must follow to meet specific requirements.
- Design for Manufacture/Assembly: This combination enables a product design to be efficiently manufactured and easily assembled with minimum labor cost. Through the use of DFM/A, a company can prevent, detect, quantify and eliminate waste and manufacturing inefficiency within a product design.
- Mechanism synthesis:The motion to be generated by machines are generally irregular, any motion except uniform rotation about a fixed axis and uniform translation. The machine designer's task is to design such mechanisms which can generate these required irregular motions. The simplest way to design such mechanisms is by clever combination and assembly of cams and/or linkages.
- Rapid prototyping: is the speedy creation of a full-scale model. The word prototype comes from the Latin words proto (original) and typus (model).
- Complex surface modeling: a mathematical method usually provided in computer-aided design applications for displaying solid-appearing objects. Surface modeling makes it possible for users to look at the specific object at specific angles with solid surfaces. Surface modeling is a popular technique for architectural designs and renderings. Surface modeling has wide range of applications such as in consumer products, marine vehicles, body panels of automobiles and aircraft structures.
