Stress and strain: Strain means deformation of materials. Stress is the forces that affect the material cause strain. (Deformation) As a concept, we use stress and strain diagram. The help of this diagram we predict the material strength under the applied forces.
Static Analysis: Under favor of static analysis tools we are able to detect errors and generate needed information about our structure to understand our design strongness and weakness.
Friction: Basically, it is a resistance of materials against to motion. We face it on solid, liquids and even on gas. Sometimes, friction is an unwanted force, but also sometimes it can be desired.
Heat: It is a form of an energy occurs by a result of motions of atoms and molecules. Vibration, bumping and like other things cause motion creates heat. The heat takes an important part of mechanical engineering application.
Control Motion: It is based on controlling of movements. The machines that have a control mechanism have to design due to this concept. Machining tools, robots, cars even simple machines are designed to fit motion control.
Speed: It is a scalar quantity that represents the distance traveled per unit of time.
Machine Design: It is also called the design of machine elements. It is deal with the analysis of machine elements like bolts, screws, nuts, brackets, joint, gears and other elements of the machine. And their mechanical properties take important part at the design machine. Properties affect the parts durability, usages of area etc.
Stiffness: It is a resistance of a material to deformation by an applied force.
Specific Weight: It is a unit weight of a material. A specific depends on the place, temperature, and volume. For example, I am 68 kg but my weight changes to 26 kg on Mars. So it means if we design anything we should consider specific weight for other environments.
Allowance: It takes an important part in manufacturing. Allowance planned by the designer to not prevent to machine or mechanism work. For instance, let's suppose we will apply heat treatment to a part which has a diameter on the surface after we add a pin in it. We should consider its shrink properties. If we should decide an allowance for this case to be grounded our pin in the hole.
